Looks like a pretty small group here in New Orleans - how many air-cooled machines are there in our fair city? Anyone have an inkling? I certainly don't see too many....but I am about to add one more.

Can anyone suggest a knowledgeable mechanic with some experience working on Beetles that is within driving distance? I can do the routine maintenance things and am studying Muir's book to learn more but would be nice to have a name or two of a pro for when I screw it up.

hey jim, i'm in harahan by the bowling alley on jeff hwy.
i'm pretty knowledgeble with vw's. got any questions, shoot them away. if i can't help, check thesamba.com or here. you'll find your answer.

as for any hands on help, i'm limited to the evenings, and weekends in between wife, kids and house duties. give me a call and i'll see if i can accomedate you in some way.

yup, your right. not many vw's riding around. you'd think with high gas prices there would be more. nope. i think it's the heat too. no ac makes uncomfortable rides, even if they're short ones.
