We made it!
Man the Hill Country sure is nice this time of year. Made a very pleasant and uneventful trip. Left Diboll on-time (8:00am) and rolled into Fredericksburg about 2:45pm. Didn't see many VW's on the way. A yellow bay window in Brenham and a gry & grn splitty on between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Thought we might run across the Houston crowd, but guess not.
The sunset cruise is later today. We'll try to get some pics up later this evening or early tomorrow.
Anyway, we're here and we're set for a weekend of German food, German beer, and German cars, in the heart of the Hill Country. :D
If nothin' don't blow out, blow up, or blow off we oughta' be in good shape!
Take a spare hamster with for the wheel! :p
Hope you have a great time. I have to go to the AMC Drag Races in Rusk tomorrow 'cause I got drafted into putting up an AMSOIL booth. Bet it'll be hot:eek:

What a day! :D I'm ready to hit the sack. But first...
Went out to the park about 4pm. Saw bunches of folks, including David Blades and Sammie Smith (Nacogdoches). Picked up our registration package and hung out for a while. The sunset cruise took off about 6pm and What a ride! We went about 15 miles north of Fredericksburg to the Willow City Loop. What scenery! Some really rugged country, lots of bluebonnets and other wildflowers, creeks that run over the roadway, cows that stand around in the road, etc. All-in-all, about 50 miles of some terrific scenery, complimented by a beautiful day! We ended our day at the Auslander German Restaurant for some good German food and beer. ;)
So, we had a great start to the Classic. Tomorrow its off to the Fredericksburg Trade Days and Wildseed Farms in the morning, and the big Bluebonnet cruise in the afternoon.
Today's photos are up in The Gallery.
More to come...

Hoo Boy! Another big day at the Classic...
Started our day again about 8am. Went out to the Fredericksburg Trade Days for a couple of hours. Nothing as big as First Monday in Canton, but still a lot of cool stuff to look at. Also saw a lot of high-priced junk - its amazing to see stuff people threw away 20-30 years ago with absolutely insane price tags on the stuff now! Then it was off to Wildseed Farms, supposedly the largest wild flower seed farm in the world, plus a huge store, and (of course) a beer garden...
After a lunch it was out to the park to form up for the Bluebonnet Cruise. Literally hundreds of VW Beetles, Ghias, busses, trucks, trikes, etc. were lined up, ready to go. We were about 1/3 of the way into the cruise and it took us almost an hour to get thru Fredericksburg - and Fredericksburg is not that big! After we did get thru town it was another great drive through some more awesome scenery, ending up on the banks of the Pedernales River near Stonewall. There they had the drawings for a number of old style picnic baskets. Lucky Judy happened to be holding one of the winning tickets and claimed a very nice picnic basket. We had a nice drive back and around Fredericksburg, having dinner at the Altdorf Restaurant.
Tomorrow is show day, so we are looking forward to that and seeing more really nice cars and meeting more good folks. So far we have had a great time as has everyone else.
Some more photos are up in the Gallery...
Look for more from the Classic tomorrow!

Showtime at the Classic...
And what a show it was! From the rattiest of the rats to the most radical of the rads to the finest and most meticulous restorations, it was all there!
Just a grand day. Although the weather was iffy all day, with some drizzle off and on, it was still good enough for everyone to have a great time.
We'll keep this one short - the pics in the Gallery tell the story!
We had a great time as did everyone else and we hope to be back next year. Hope everyone enjoyed the daily updates and pics.

Alright! Back home again.
We stayed over in Fredericksburg Sunday night and left about 10am this morning - got in about 5pm. Wow! Did we ever have a great time. So many fine cars, so many great people, it'll probably take a week or so for it all to sink in.
All-in-all, Judy & I had a great time. There were a few expected, and unexpected, glitches, but Steve & crew put on one hell of an event. The weather was a little tacky Sunday, but at least it didn't come a flood or blow everybody's stuff away! The KaferKruzer ran like a top all weekend and made the trip without a single problem.
I hope everyone enjoyed the daily posts and photos. Most of the pics were raw from the camera, just resized and compressed for the Gallery. I'll try to get some better versions up in the next few days.
One last note: All of us who were there owe the people of Fredericksburg and huge THANKS for their hospitality and patience in hosting the Classic.
And... Judy & I made our reservations for next year before we left, so...
We'll see ya'll at the 2008 Classic
I enjoyed the pictures you posted. Sounds like you had a great time. I couldn't go if I wanted this year because of having to care for my Aunt. I did go to Rusk Saturday to the AMC event. Got a nasty sunburn!
Maybe next year I might be able to go. Sure miss those shows. I'll bet there were a lot of unique VWs. :D
