I am about 80% sure I am going to list my car for sale in the next few weeks.....
I am looking for a nice 50's or early 60's American car, you know something that begs for a slam and 3" whitewalls....
I will post my ad here first once I can convince the kids to let it go

Your bug is sweet Brian, I think it would be a mistake to let it go. Good luck though with what ever you decide to do :)

It is the nicest car I know of... and it has been very good to me... but I just do not enjoy it the way I should, I like looking at it, but not driving it.
Of course i will regret selling it, I have regretted selling almost every car I have owned, but I will just have to make sure my next car will give me the good times this car has....
And still I am sitting at 20% keeping it...... but I did convince the kids it's time... Andrew is cool with getting something new now that he will have a hand in making it cool

I know what you mean Brian. Life is short, and there are so many cool cars out there, why limit yourself to just one make/model? If you miss your VW that much you can always find another one - there are plenty out there.
On that note, I have entered into the world of old Merecedes diesels - picked up an '85 300D turbodiesel 2 weeks ago. It is truly built like a tank. Still keeping the bug, will sell the GTI. Old Mercedes can be expensive to maintain though, there is a possibility I will have to end up trading it for a rice burner if it doesn't behave.
It is interesting how various people use old VWs as a starting point, then branch out from there in different directions.

How about trading for a 1966 Mustang and cash? It could be a driver relatively easy. Good luck with your decision. I see your point on driving an old american iron rod. I may be aquiring a 1949 Dodge that has been in the family since new and in the barn since 1972!

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Say it isn't so! You can not sell that car!
I forbid you! Case closed, next subject please!
Seriously: Best wishes no matter what happens.
It will be a shame to see it go.

I am back from my Cali/Vegas vacation and am now 100% sure I am selling......
In the next couple of days I am going to pretty the car up to make it as presentable as possible (basically redoing the whitewalls and cleaning the interior)
I will post the ad here first, then Samba, then possibly eBay.....
Not in a real big hurry to sell, but will heavily consider a trade for something big and American earlier than 64
probably be asking in the 7k range

original engine with a big bore kit.... so like 1385....
Was "rebuilt" and turned into a big bore in 1990... I replaced the heads in 1999 with NOS ones (assembled by JBS)
