Started working on something today...

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for awhile, then I saw this on the airkewld site:

http://www.airkewld.com/parts/prodimages/Picture-014.jpg

So, I started out by stripping down an extra beam...

Then I narrowed it four inches. I currently I have the beam back together, and now I have to cut and reweld the framehead mounting brackets.
I have the side plates drawn out on a pattern, and tried cutting one today. But I don't have the proper equipment to do so.

I'm using 1/4 inch plate for the bag brackets. Wore out three or four jigsaw blades just trying to get there... no dice.

I'm gonna run out to the welding shop out here on 195 and see if they'll cut the brackets for me.

Then I just gotta weld 'em up, and narrow the tie rods to match!

wish me luck.

Joel,

I thought you were using one bag for the front. I gotta admit, that beam looks good! Good to see you working on Lump.

Later!

good to see you still hanging around the site man!

I bought a Passat, I've never had a watercooled. It's a nice car, I love it. We moved up here and bought a hundred year old house so we have been doing alot of work to that. We have a garage but I need to re-roof it once thats done, I will be able to have a place to put one. I will probably have to put a bathroom on the first floor then I will get my project. Will be looking for a bus next, only saw one up here on the road and one for sale. I will probably have to find one down south and have it shipped or drive it up.
