A good friend of mine is going to attempt to narrow the adjustable beam on his 69'. Has anyone done that before? We are set on tools and the idea of how it works, but a little insight might help the build.
It is going down Sunday in Lakeway if anyone wants to roll over let me know.

This is is one of a couple of sites to help you out with that,
Narrowing a ball joint bem is essentially the same, but you don't have to screw with the shock towers.
I have narrowed mine 3 1/2 inches by a little different method. I would recommend his though, it's the right way.
Good luck.

this'll give you a start. you might be able to answer any other questions that should come about once you are under way.

6 incher here! ;) Good luck. I got mine from KCW, but maybe if I had welding experience I would have tried it on my own.

Joel has posted an excellent summary of what it takes to narrow a beam in the Wiki:

I'm having inner conflict about my beam narrowing as we speak.
Beam hell even.
Still contemplating here.

Just do a 2", that way it won't mess too much w/ the turning radius. If you do CB disks it will make the width pretty close to normal..:cool:

Normal = boring. :D
I like the way yours sits Phillip, but I needs them discs.
When I spend a buncha bucks, I want see some difference....but I also want to be able to get the car in and out of my steepish driveway.
I'm on it.

Too easy....
Got a million of 'em. lol...
Don't worry about it, just get another beam and chop it, then you have a backup if it doesn't work for ya....
