The guy I was going to use to powder coat my bug parts is no longer in business. I am really trying to avoid using Allied so does anyone know of anyone that has had powder coating done here in houston? Also I know a few of you people have had your pans powder coated. Roughly what should that cost?

Use Alkote Inc. 713-695-3609, 13 Farrell St, Houston, TX 77022. The owner is Brian Dyer. Alkote was a corporate sponsor of the recent Houston Aircoolers Picnic and supports the VW community. In fact, Brian is building a sand rail ight now. Hell of a nice guy! I just had some wheels painted by them and Billy (fitz69) had his pan powder coated as well as many other pieces. Give them a call and support the companies that were there for us :)

any idea what he paid for the pan to be powder coated? Also how much did he charge you per wheel?

I'm not really at liberty to say how much he charged me cause it was a deal I worked out through a really good friend of Brian Dyer's, who happens to be Billy. Likewise, I'm pretty sure the price Billy paid to have his pan powdercoated is not necessarily going to reflect the price for someone "off the street." Just give him a call, and tell him you are a Houston Air Cooler and what you want done, I'm sure the price will be very very reasonable. :)

i dont think youll be disapointed mine turned out great...the color i chose is called pearla black or something close to that im probly saying it wrong but its not a super glossy black but not a dull black either...if you look under the hood of old chevy vehicles when they were new youll see a black that is not super shiny but not dull this is the closest to any factory black i can find..

What side of town are there? I'm going to get my new wheelie bars next month and want to get them powder coated black. Are they good on prices compared to everyone else?

They're on the north side of town, near 45 and Ariline (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=13+Farrell+St,+Houston,+TX+77022&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=42.85226,81.035156&layer=&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=13&ll=29.828582,-95.372314&spn=0.092032,0.158272&iwloc=addr). Give them a call, I don't know how they compare, but I'm sure they are fair. They support us, so I support them :)

I just talked to Brian and got everything worked out. Very nice guy! Looks like I'm going to take more than my wheelie bars to get coated. LOL!!
