It was such a nice day today... I got out side and I looked at my Thing... oh it really wanted out, I could tell, and I looked at the sky and I wanted it out. I ran inside and checked the traffice enforcement page :D cause I knew the inspection was out in Feb... and nothing was listed for 2222 all the way to work. I figure, I'll drive it to work, and on my way home get it inspected!!!
Out it came... dusted it off, took out the windows, down with the top... pop pop I've got dregs of bad gas pop pop... vroom! Hooray!!!
Quick stop at the nearest gas station... 9.4 gallons and off to work.
... on the way there a cop nearly takes off the bumper pulling out infront of me to get a speeder. . . I slammed on the breaks . . . they work! The cop is squeeling tires and passes me after the speeder. . . 1 sec, 2 sec, 3 sec, heart restarts. Whew! Well the breaks will pass!
Then I go to lunch up the big hill on 2222 with 2 people in the car with me and well I end up in 2nd gear by the top of the hill... subway and back down the hill pop - pop - pop damn that crack in the muffler ... Park and work.
Pulling out on to 2222 on my way home I gun it to merge with traffic heading home and there is this truck mostly in my blind spot and there is this hammering sound. I think - man, that guy must be really low on oil or have a serious problem with his engine... man that hammering... it was kinda faint... and my power band was fine - vroom. Then he notices I am looking at his truck and speeds up to make eye contact. :eek: Gives me a look and looks back towards the back of the Thing. clunck - clunck - clunity clunk - clunk
Oh! :eek: its me! oh no! What the hell is it???!?! I pull over into the lot of the steam clean people at city park road, hop out to find my muffler is hanging by the C- Clamp. Well there isn't a tool in the thing to save my life... they are all in the daily... not a spanner to be found. I pull some bungie off the top tie down I'm using and bungie my muffler to the bumper and pop pop backfire my way home.
What? that? the muffler??? :cool: Oh! I don't really need a muffler for a Saftey Inspction , do I, Mr. Inspector? Those bungies are tight... no, really, look here...
I figured I wouldn't try ... but I really thought about it!
So does anyone know where I can get a triangle muffler flange muffler in town on the cheap to get my inspection? :D
