May I just keep it stock? What’s wrong with the "Showroom" look?
Keeping a classic in stock condition, increases it's resale value.
To turn it into a hood-ride or Baja would NOT do anything for the collector value.

Don't be so serious. It's all in good fun. I just like to express my opinions. I both respect and appreciate others' opinions. Don't get offended.

To me though, the challenge is making my car look the way I want it to look, but while keeping all the modifications I do completely reversable and keeping all the stock parts stored away. That way, the car is more of an expression of my style, rather than VW's, but I could easily return it to stock if for some reason I needed to get rid of it (God forbid). But, different people enjoy their cars in different ways, and it's all good in my book, as long as you truely enjoy it :)
